ABOUT The Project
Our project at St Mary’s is all about honouring the past while looking to the future. Thanks to support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, we are investing in essential improvements that will protect this historic church and ensure it remains at the heart of village life for generations to come.
The 'Next Chapter' project will...
-
Protect the building for the future – carrying out vital works to improve the church’s facilities, accessibility, and comfort.
-
Celebrate our heritage – sharing the fascinating history of St Mary’s, its links to John Constable, and its role in our community over the centuries.
-
Create a community space – opening the doors wider, so the church can be enjoyed not only for worship but also for events, activities, and learning opportunities.
Together, these strands will make St Mary’s a more welcoming, inclusive, and inspiring place for everyone.
Why now?
St Mary’s is not just a historic building, it’s part of our living village. By investing in it now, we’re ensuring it remains a space that future generations can enjoy, while opening it up more fully to today’s community.
...this would be a great boost for the local community, which is why I wrote a letter supporting their grant funding application.
